DICE ROLLING

Yes, the title could have been ‘Rolling the Dice’. But there is no ‘the’ in regards to dice. Chance applies to all of them. In school we look at all of these houses by famous architects, and in most cases they are only occupied by a photographer or architecture student or obscenely rich person who can go back to their comfortable home once finished with the experience of the architecture.

So maybe the house on the cliff that acts as lighthouse for artists and monument for fisherman rolls down one day. The singular object that needs a background to emphasize its power changes its background. And gives up the pretense of house. What is attached to idyllic landscape is now floating in the ocean.

Flux and precipice. Unfortunately the floor plan does not apply underwater.

Model completed as study for PEZO VON ELLRICHSHAUSEN, Casa Poli [2005].
