I felt like I had the world at my fingertips with decent test scores and a mediocre idea of what I wanted to do with my life. This is what could be called a portfolio. The writing is from an 18 year old trying to sound like what he thinks an artist is supposed to sound like. [This paragraph is from a 23 year old trying to sound like what he thinks he himself is supposed to sound like.] Most architecture programs did not let me in, and neither did Michigan, but the few that did made me feel like I could be of positive value to society. I chose to go to Michigan anyway, because they allow anyone into the program after two years in exchange for a hefty amount of tuition. I paid for this decision later. They also have a good football team and Michigan was a childhood dream. It was a choice I would make again.

I am almost completely sure that I will remove this from the internet as soon as I reach a certain degree of ‘professional’. Please don’t read any of the writings, although I included them here. The largest issues I had were running out of space on the 8.5x11 papers, and the lack of any alignment tools in Google Slides. I believe my mom was able to scan the drawings at Staples after a long process and email them as JPGs.

Memories around this time include writing inspirational quotes on different whiteboards, waking up early to get some shots up before school, waking up even earlier to get a workout in before getting some shots up, being hungry, and falling asleep during class.  Where I was not more skilled than others, I worked harder. Like most things in life, sometimes this was helpful, and other times not so much.

When I started teaching architecture for high schoolers years later, I just pretended like I was teaching this piece of myself.
